History

For a long time, Courtalain belonged to the House of Montmorency, and since 1862 to its descendants, the House of GONTAUT BIRON

An English Neo-gothic tower is attached to the 16th century château, a souvenir of the Montmorencys' return to France following the Revolution.

Surrounding the château is a superb park with centuries-old trees and some very beautiful 18th century outbuildings.
